Gary "Butch" Ryan

Gary Edward, Butch Ryan,73 years old, made his transition from this life on December 21, 2024, after residing 14 months in the Knott County Nursing Home, Hindman, KY. We will be forever grateful for the wonderful care he received there. He was born on April 20,1951, in Middlesboro, KY. to the late Barbara Pass and Thomas Warren Ryan. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Hall; granddaughter, Tyra Jones White; and his second wife, Renai Stanfield. Butch graduated from Betsy Lane High School, in 1971. He served in the Army during the years of 1971 - 1973 and was stationed in Germany. He married Brenda Hall in April of 1974. They had one daughter, Christina Reinacher Jones. Butch earned an Associates Degree in Business from University of Kentucky, Prestonsburg Community College. He spent most of his adult life in Harold, KY. Later in life, he retired after working 20 years with Nestle Company, in Danville, VA. Later, he made his home with his second wife, Renia Stanfield, at Topmost. Butch was a member of the Church of Christ. His grandfather, Nineva Pass preached many years at the McRoberts Church of Christ in McRoberts. He was an avid gardener and loved raising chickens and other livestock. Butch was very talented and loved learning. Left to sustain his memory are two sisters, Alberta Ryan Lynch, Chatham, VA. and Dina Ryan Wagner, Danville, VA; one brother, Charlie Emmitt C.E. (Kristy) Ryan, Chatham, VA; his daughter, Christina Reinacher Jones, Pikeville, KY; one granddaughter, Kayla (Chad) Blackwelder, and their children are Parker, Addison and Annalise. Other grandchildren are Shanna White and Ryder Jones, all of Pikeville, KY. Other step-children include: Greg Stanfield, and Vickie Stanfield of FL, Paul Stanfield, of Kernersville, N.C.; nieces and nephews include: Lesia (Jason) Hanks, Belinda Bryson, Misty McGhee and Toni Hanks; great nephew, Jaxon McGhee, all of Chatham, VA, Terri Turner, Ashley Nicole Cobb and Dustin Turner, Jarrod White, Alaina and Sophie White, all of Danville, VA, Lorrie White, Colton Cobb White, of Jupiter, FL, Courtney Ryan Owens and Cody Ryan Nelson, Dallas, TX, Lucas and Jacob Ryan, Chatham, VA. Arrangements will be taken care of by Hall and Jones Funeral Home. Visitation Services will be Sunday December 29, 2024, beginning at 12 Noon. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 PM with Nick Bentley officiating. Interment will follow at the Yontz Family Cemetery, Neon, KY.
