Verba White Justice

After nothing short of an extraordinary life, Verba Lois White Stanley Justice passed away September 12, 2024, in Pikeville. She was born in Beefhide to the late Challie and Viola White. Lois’s wild spirit and daring nature found her moving to Cincinnati at the age of sixteen. That was the beginning of her adventures as a beautiful, flirtatious, feisty addition to whichever city she found herself in next. A favorite of hers was Las Vegas, a city that matched her fabulous, flashy nature like no other. Although she was often physically hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles away, she managed to remain a huge part of our lives. She never failed to send letters and cards doused in her favorite perfume. Even better than the letters and cards were her visits. Though she was not actually an exotic movie star (like some of her nieces thought), she would provide us non-stop entertainment with her bubbly, fun-loving nature that could be anything from silly to outrageous. In short, she was the life of the party. During her life, Lois was first married to Jim Stanley. After his death, she met and married the late Russ Justice. She then moved back to Kentucky and met Elmer “Al” Harris, her companion and caretaker. Lois is survived by her beautiful sister; Ruby (Ted) Bentley, Ruth (Ron) Hall, Eva (Thurman) Mullins, Edith (Lacey)Tackett, one brother; Ray (Nancy) White, brother-in-law; Elmo Addington and sister-in-law; Shelby Pinson. She was preceded in death by sisters; Joyce Bentley and Alice Addington, brothers; Paul White, Roy White, Carlos White, sister-in-law; Judy White and brother-in-law; Jonah Bentley and her beloved dog Tiger, that she never forgot. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews who have provided all the loving, accurate descriptions of this woman whose unique life has inspired us to be just a little extra sometimes. Extra fancy, extra sassy, and extra loving. She leaves a tall pair of stilettos to be filled. Safe travels on your final journey Aunt Lois. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00PM at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home with Tony Bentley, Jerry Damron and others officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery at Bear Fork of Beefhide. Visitation will begin on Friday after 6:00PM at the Funeral Home with services beginning at 7:00PM.
