Ellis Reed Kiser

Ellis Reed “Cobb” Kiser 76 years of age of Caney Drive, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Pikeville Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 20, 1949, to the late Reed and Viola Kiser. He was married to the love of his life, Ethel Mae McCown on March 6, 1976, where they shared 47 years of marriage before she passed away. He was a coal miner for many years, having worked for Kiser Brother Coal Co, Elkhorn Stone, and many others. He served in the United States Army from February 1969 thru September 1970. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Ellis was known for his love, kindness, compassion and dedication to his family and friends. He loved his family dearly and loved his grandkids and great grandkids more than life itself. Ellis loved going fishing and hunting with his brothers. He loved any and all family time. He would always help others in their time of need and cherished every minute of it. He loved his friends and family dearly. Ellis had a real passion for cooking and was enjoyed by many and loved baking cakes for his family. In his free time Ellis loved going to Cave Run with his brother, Roger, which was a lifetime tradition. Along with his other brothers, cousins, and nephews, they would hunt and fish every spot they could get to. Ellis is survived by two daughters, Letha (Leo) Damron, of Church Hill, TN, Rebecca Kiser-Lewis (Brenda) of Caney, seven grandkids, Tayler Roberts Murphy, Heather Roberts, Roger Roberts, Haley Lindsey, Logan McCown, Alyssa McCown, James Ellis Kiser-Lewis; one great-grandchild, Jaylyn Noel Roberts, six brothers, Roger (Adalene) Kiser, Ricky Kiser, Ronnie (Barb) Kiser, Jeff Kiser, Logan (Janet) Kiser, Leon (Corithia) Kiser; one sister, Barbara (Jim) Kiser Rowe; along with many other special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Ethel Mae McCown Kiser; his parents, Reed and Viola Mullins Kiser; two sisters, Loretta Kiser and Janice Kiser. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 1:00PM at the Caney Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Kiser Cemetery at Kiser Lane. Visitation will begin on Saturday after 6:00PM at the Church with nightly services beginning at 7:00PM.
